A ROUGH VOYAGE.
Press Association. AUCKLAND, August 8. The barque Don, bound from Adelaide to the English Channel with a cargo of wheat, is anchored in -the llauraki Gulf. The vessel sailed on July 3, and met with very rough weather from the start of the voyage. Going south the passage was extremely rough, and the captain decided to make a more northerly course in the hopes of meeting fine weather conditions, and got a few days’ respite. Afterwards a series of gales was encountered, and the vessel ran before the gale, making the three Kings about three weeks ago. •’ince then the vessel has been buffeted about by heavy easterly gales between the North Gapfe and the East Cape, endeavoring to make the voyage to eastward, but owing to the .veather it could not be managed. Captain Allsupp, who is in command, suffered so severely from anxiety that his health completely broke down, insomnia being his trouble, and he decided to put into Auckland for medical treatment. Captain Allsupp, who was formerly in command of the barque Brussels, came ashore, and lias gone into a private hospital, out it is expected he will be well enough in five or six days to proceed on tho voyage. The vessel is undamaged.
