Mr. Harry Riddick, of Eakauroa, has been sworn in as a Justice of the Peace.

Mr. C. F. Lewis, Government Valuer, will leave for Wairoa on Monday to attend the sitting of the Assessment Oour.t on the 16th and 17th. A Press Association message from Blenheim states that a solemn requiem mass was held at St. Mary’s yesterday in memory of the Rev. Father Lewis, late Vicar-General, and formerly parish priest of Blenheim for 10 years, in which 22 priests from the 'Wellington diocese took part. Father Power, of Hawera, preached the pane"vric. Subsequently a theological conference was held.
