MAORI LAND BOARD.

The Tai-Itawhiti Maori Band Board held a sitting yesterday before Col. Porter, C.B. (President), Mr. A. Kclfer and Mr. Otene Pitau.

The following business was dealt with: Takaka block, 2, 4 and 5 (Mr. Sievwright, 25 acres, lease for ten years at a rental of £37 per annum, to Thos. McGregor; formally approved. Applications for leases in Afangaiara H., to M. Mulloolv, and Kaiparo No. 3, to W. Sisterson, were withdrawn owing to applications being incomplete. Whareongaonga C, No. 11 (Chrisp and Coleman), 117 acres, lease to Charles Gibson, for .30 years, rental £l4 7s 6d per annum; finally approved. Puninga. No. 5 (Chrisp and Coleman), 21 years’ lease to Hemi Kara and Tipeue Kara, 749 acres, £IOO a year; formally approved. Application in Puninga No. 11, for lease for 30 years to Charles Gibson at 2s 6d an acre j>er annum, was struck out, the number of applicants not being sufficient. Awapuni A, No. 2, section 5, 23 acres 1 rood '23 perches, lease granted from Mere Kingi Paraone and others to G. Gray and E. T. Harries (Air. H. Hei for applicants), for 21 years at 5 per cent. Pateriki Pahura. (Mr. H. Hei for applicant) applied for a 21 years lease of Tauwhareparae No. 1 Ej 256 acres 1 rood at 1 2s per acre; the evidence was partly heard and the matter adjourned sine die. The Board resumes at 10.30 this morning.
