THE TIMBER INDUSTRY.
A fine plant arrived on Saturday to the order of All'. D. Falkner, sawmiller, specially made for use in the back districts by pit sawyers.
The plant .comprises a 10-12 horsepower double cylinder Anderson oil engine. Gipsey hauler, bench, saws, etc., all complete to set up at the pit. The idea is to break down by hand and then rip by power, -which will be a great advantage. Air. Falkner intends taking the plant direct into the Tahora, where iarge orders are waiting for houses and woolsheds.
Alessrs. Mills Bros, have also a plant running at Tahunga, which yvas packed in, and lias been giving every satisfaction. Up to now it has been considered impossible to get power into these back settlements, but these difficulties have now been overcome by these special engines. Air. G. B. De Lautour, machinery importer, supplied both these plants, and will be pleased to give information to all interested.
