LAKE WAIKAREMOANA.
(Special to Times). WELLINGTON, last night. 1 There has been, says the Tourist : Department, a considerable increase in the number of visitors to this re- ' sort, but as prevousl.v pointed out 1 this beautful lake will not receive the i attention it deserves till there is a > .satsfactory means of communication ' between it and Rotorua. The time c taken to reach the lake and the dis- s tancc to lie travelled prohibits other s than residents in the district!, from t attempting the journey. The revenue collected during the past year amounted to £66S, as against £409 for the previous year. Angling has proved one of the leading attractions at the lake. The red deer herd is reported to he rapidly increasing, and it is only a matter of a few years when good stalking will he available e
in the vicinity of the lake. During the year, by an arrangement with the owners of a private telephone wire, the Department had its accommodation house connected with Frasertovn by-telephone.
