(Special to Times). WELLINGTON, July 30. The Education Committee has considered the petition of Catherine Thomson, of Sawyer’s Bay, Otago. Tlio petitioner represented that her son, the late William Hay Rennie, wis teacher of the Papakaio School, that lie received a salary of only £ls a month, that he had to live in a lonely place removed from- other human habitation, and that he was there murdered. Her husband is 84 .years of age, and unable to earn a livelihood. She therefore aske for a compassionate allowance. The committee has no recommendation to make.
