ACTRESS WALTZES INTO A RIVER.
Miss Lloreen Hamilton, one of the pretty young actresses playing at the Waldorf Theatre, London, in the “Gipsy Girl” Company, has had an unpleasant, not to say dangerous, experience. She was one of a party who visited tho upper reaches of the Thames, upon tho invitation of Mr. William Armfelt, chairman of London Musical Productions, Limited, and the accident happened when the steam launch carrying the party was between Hampton Court and Windsor. To tho music of the theatre orchestra. several couples were dancing on the narrow deck, when one collided with the rail. The gentleman stumbled, and the lady. Miss Lloreen Hamilton, fell head foremost into the river just as the gates of a neighboring lock wore being slowly opened and the water rushing in. Miss Hamilton disappeared from view for a moment, and there was a rush to the side, several male member* of the party prepared to dive to her resc.ue. However, this was not necessary, for Mr. Blanchard was lowered into the water by means of a rope, and managed to grasp Miss Hamilton as she reappeared. Then the pair were drawn on board, the young actress being at once hurried into the cabin. A difficulty, however, presented itself. While Miss Hamilton’s clothing was drying in the stokehole, what was she to wear? None of the other members of the party could spare any article of attire, there wore no “props” on board, so what ivas she to do?” Eventually, however, one of the waiters remembered he had a spare suit on ..board. Woidd Miss Hamilton accept? Miss Hamilton had no choice, and so, in a waiter’s dress suit she remained between decks until her own dress was again available. -- ;
