FRIENDLY SOCIETIES.
Tho committee of tho Gisborne Tent, 1.0.1 b, met last evening and discussed tho matter of hospital benefits. It was decided; to recommend to the Lodge that on payment of Is per year hospital benefits be extended to a member and his wife. Tho anniversary of the Tent is to he celebrated by a -social at AVliinray’s Hall at an early date.
The annual meeting, the United Friendly Societies Conference, was held in tho Oddfellows’ Hall, Grey street. last night. Tho! President. Bro. Arthur Wade, was in the chair. All tho Lodges were represented The balance-sheet for tho past year showed a credit balance of £33, the profit on tho year’s working being about £lO. It was also shown that oyer £IOO had been paid to the Hospital for the year. The election of officers resulted ns follows :—President, Bro. C. F. Lewis; Vice-Presi-dent, Bro. J. Nieol; secretary, Bro. Aliev ; treasurer, Bro. Arthur Wade ; auditor, Bro. Ambridgo. Votes of thanks to the retiring officers were pas-ied. It was decided to increase the annual subscription to os, payable half-voarly, with a view to making tlio Conference self-supporting. «>
