At the meeting of the management committee of the N.Z. Rugby Union this" evening a letter was rend fror: the Wanganui Rugby Union, asking that its match with Auckland he approved as an ordinary challenge', match for the Ranfurly Shield. This w:is acceded to. The question of the Auckland-Hawke’s Bay match at Auckland on August 10th being declared a special challenge match again came up for consideration. Th ■ committee now decided that the match bo a special challenge, the Hawke’s Bay Union being allowed transit expenses for a reasonable number of players from Napier to Auckland and back to Napier. It was decided to ask the South Canterbury Union for further information about a. player who was disqualified till the end of 190 S for being drunk on the,field of .play, it being thought tha l the sentence. onUthis person was to i lenient. Consideration of an appeal by the Gore Pioneer Club against disqualification by the Southland Union was deferred for further information. •
