THE AVAIIvONINI IN TROCHE

Messrs. Evans, Niold and Co. wore advised by telegram from Auckland yesterday that the scow AVaikonini was aslioro, but tile locality 'was noi mentioned. The scow left Gisborne about three weeks ago to load timber at a settlement north of AYliangarei. Messrs. Evans. ISieltl and*Co. will take immediato steps to charter a vesol to take up the AVaikonini’s run this being the third they have had to make recently—the Awanni is laid up in Auckland and news of the wreck of the Surprise was 'published yesterday.

Captain McManus of the coastal •steamer, Kareau, which arrived in port to-day reports that when passing Pakiri about 44 miles north ol Auckland, near Point Rodney, he observed a scow ashore. She" had all sails set. It was impossible to make out the name and the scow’s identity has nob yet been ascertained.
