Mr. 11. T. Johnson, nnumgor of the Hawke’s liny and Poverty Bay Branch of the National Mutual Lifu Association, is in town. Mr. P. A. Fabian, well know n in ■ local commercial circles, has been appointed travelling representative for tin National Mutual Life Associate.*,l of Australasia, in this district. At last night’s meeting of the Hospital Trustees, the Chairman (Hon. Cnpt. Tucker) made highly appreciative reference to the wor*k of. Dr. Morrison, and expressed his sincere thanks to that gentlemnn for tho manner in which he has, at personal inoonvonioneo and to oblige tho Trustees, remained at his post pending tho new managerial arrangements coming into force. Ho moved “That tho Trustees desire to express their gratitude to Or. Morrison for the kind and unselfish manner in which ho has continued to conduct tho liosI pital, and ako their hearty appreciation of flic very valued services which ho has rendered to tho institution.” Tho resolution, seconded bv Mr. F. Lvsnar. was supported by all the members, ami carried unanimously. The Trustees . hoped Dr. Morrison would consent to remain in office until other arrangements are completed, and the Chairman will interview, him on the subject. But should ho desire to ho released of his duties and decline, the medical committee were empowered to approach ono of tho local medical men to act in the meantime. Mr. Dewing expressed the viow that tho honorary staff should not bo expected to take up their duties until a houso surgeon was appointed, and the other mem hers concurred
