Italians have an exciting way jf playing bowls, states Mr. T. Ballinger, pf Wellington, who had an opportunity of watching them play on their native soil not long ago. They bowl in the ordinary way of drawing shots, but when it comes to driving they aim the missiles hard down, in an endeavor to lob on the point desired. Mr. Ballinger saw the players making splendid shots in this way, and the excitement was intense. This was the only time during his stay in Italy that he greatly regretted a lack of knowledge of the language.
