The Itov. Dr. John Elmslio, a well known Presbyterian minister, anil foi many years pastor of St. Paul’s Christchurch, died on Friday night agen 76. Deceased resigned the position at St. Paul’s a few years ago. and his place was taken bv the Rev, T. 'fait.
Capt. Jas. Gardiner died at Invercargill, aged 71. Deceased was wellknown as the former owner of Birchwood estate, the finest homestead in Southland. He played a large part in introducing sport into this district and for many years ran his own pack of hounds. He was also founder of the well-known Bircliwooil flock of Romneys,
