A Press Association telegram from Napier states that the Bishop of AYaiapu has appointed the Rev. Herbert AA 7 . AA’illiams to bo Archdeacon of AA r aiapu, and the Rev. David Ruddock Archdeacon of Hawke’s Bay., At Matawhero, on AA 7 ednesday, ~.iss Barbara Knox, second daughter of Mr. Adam Knox, was married to Mr. Edward It.' Lange, late of Blenheim, eldest son of Mr. Charles Lange, of Matawhero. The Rev. R. Gardner performed the ceremony at tho residence of the bride’s parents. The bride was given away by her father, and was attended by Misses Martha and Nellie Knox, her sisters, and Miss Nina Lange, sister of the bridegroom. Mr. Lange, cousin of the bridegroom, acted .as best man, and Mr. It. Knox, juu., as. groomsman.

Colonel Porter, Air. A. Keefer, Otene Pitau, and Air. S. East, of the Tai Rawliiti District Alaori Land Council, will leave for AA'airoa on Alonday to hold a sitting of the Council. They expect to be away for the whole week.

Mr. D. O’Sullivan, the East Coast representative of tho. Government Life Department, arrived yesterday from Auckland by tho Zealandia, with the intention of making Gisborne his headquarters for some weeks. Not having visited Poverty Bav for at least fifteen years, the veteran agent finds many changes in the town and its surroundings. _ Mr. O’Sullivan will he assisted in his labors in this district by Dr. Reginald Overton, who is expected here on Saturday next. Mr. T. Clarkson, formerly agricultural editor of the Canterburv Times, has arrived in Girliorne to take up the. position of managing-editor of the Gisborne Times. Prior to liis departure from Christchurch Mr. Clarkson was presented with a valuable set of referenco hooks as a mark of esteem by the literary staff of the Lyttelton Times Cornuanv, with whom he had been associated for the past twelve years.
