Through the intervention of Mr. Hughes, the secretary of the Sea-, men’s Union, a conference between tho representatives of the Collier Owners’ Association and the Coal Lumpers’ Union and Mr. Hughes was held to-day. The employers made certain proposals, which will be submitted. for the consideration of the men The president of the Trades Hall Council to-night made a statement that the. whole trouble would be concluded in a day or two.
