Messrs. Richardson and Co.’s s.s. Fanny arrives this morning from Napier with a cargo of timber and posts. She sails for Napier at 5 o’clock. The Huddart, Parker Co.’s s.s.
Zealandia arrived from Sydney and Auckland at 2.30 yesterday afternoon * and proceeded to Southern ports in the evening. Messrs. Kichardson and Co.’s s.s. Ivahu leaves .Napier to-day with transhipments ex Toroa and arrives in Gisborne to-morrow morning. The Union Co.’s s.s. Haupiri left •Napier at midnight for Gisborne and sails for Coast ports and Auckland at 10 a.m. this morning. Outward passengers: Misses Beasley, Wilson, Harvey; Mcsdames Smith, DeVoer, Hick and infant; Messrs McDonald, Watson, DeLautour, Dick, AVilliams, Kirk. The Union Co.’s s.s. Squall passed the East Cape at 6.20 a.in. yesterday, left Tolaga Bay 2.15 p.m. and arrived in Gisborne at 10 p.m. She will be despatched for Napier to-day. The Union/Co.’s s.s. Miowera arrives on Saturday morning from Southern ports and proceeds to Auckland and Sydney. The last launch leaves at 10 a.in. The owners of the well-known coastal steamers Toroa, Kalin and Fanny, Messrs. Richardson and Co., of Napier, have decided to increase the tonnage of the Toroa. The vessel at present carries a crew that would suffice for a boat several times her size, having a crew of sixteen, including three engineers and three firemen. The owners intend to lengthen her by about 30ft. which will increase her carrying capacity by about 150 tons dead weight.
