TUPAROA.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) An entertainment club lias been started in our township, and one night a week is to be devoted to various forms of amusements. Tile first evening was devoted to musical items and recitations, etc., and proved very enjoyable. The second evening took the form of a mock banquet and was productive of some capital speeches. Messrs Poole and Earnshaw proved Rosts in themselves, tbo former rcntleman giving several most interesting recitations and readings. Mr. Earnshaw was quite first class in liis toast of the “Visitors.” A number of others helped to make the evening a success. Last evening the members gave speeches concerning their favqrlte authors. Mr. Poolo was again to tho fore with a capital address, and entertained the company with several short poems and readings. On this occasion it was pleasing to note that the ladies took part. Miss Jones was listened to with much interest, and her remarks showed that this lady was well acquainted with the subject she chose. Miss Earnshaw also gave a very interesting recitation, and prolonged applause showed that her efforts were appreciated. Messrs Nicklin, Ward rick, Davis, and Hicks also gave capital readings. Mr. Broderick, the president of tlip society, being indisposed, the chair was taken in an efficient manner by Mr. Earnshaw. That very important subject, the native land question, is set down for discussion on Fridav next. 51 r. Travers, who has had years of experience in native land matters is to take tho lead, and after he has delivered his address a general debate bv members will follow.
