UNCONSTITUTIONAL ACTION.

PROTEST FROM ROTORUA. Press Association. ROTORUA, last night. The Chamber of Commerce to-day wired all the Chambers of Commerce in the colony as follows: —“The Rotorua Town Bill is .being rushed through with undue haste. Wire your representatives to oppose the third reading to-morrow (Tuesday). The residents have had no time to consider the same. Very important.” The following telegram was sent to Sir Joseph Ward :—“Residents are very surprised at the attempt to rush the Rotorua Town Bill without a chance of consideration of its effects. Ivindlv postpone the third reading. The unseemly haste is certainly not just to leaseholders, who should have a voice' in the management of the town.” A telegram was also sent to Mr. Herries, urging him to oppose the third reading. A letter was posted to him this morning. The residents considered the action of the Government unconstitutional.
