STRIKE ON THE RAND.
A FIGHT TO A. FINISH. United Press Association—Copyright CAPETOWN, July 14. Four thousand strikers on the Rand are determined to fight to a finish, they cable the labor bodies of Australia New Zealand, and America, asking for assistance.
KILFOIL HOTEL OUTRAGE. CAPETOWN. July 14. Until recently Ivilfoil’s hotel", Boksburg, had been the quarters of the strikers, but shortly before the explosion a number of working miners were in the billiard-room, and it is presumed tho explosion was directed against these.
TROOPS OBJECTED TO. LONDON, July 14. Outhwaite, in a letter to the Daily Chronicle, states that- the miners a month ago applied to the British trade unions through Mr. Ramsey -MacDonald for financial assistance, or to compel the Imperial Government to withdraw the troops, hut received no response.
ARBITRATION WITHHELD
PRETORIA, July 14. General Botha, replying to a miners’ deputation, declined to legislate in favor of arbitration this year. He advised the men to resume work. The deputation repudiated responsibility tor possible bloodshed in view of the Cabinet’s attitude.
