A Press Association cablegram from London records tile death of Sir IV. H Perkin, inventor of aniline dyes, aged 59. Mrs. William Fenwick, widow of the late editor of tile Otago Witness, was found by her niece on Sunday night on the floor of her bedroom, life being extinct. A cablegram from London announces the death of Mr. David Farquhar, son of the painter. Telegraphic information was received yesterday to the effect- that Mr. Chris. Davies’ son, who was in a critical state at Wanganui from pneumonia, is now* making satisfactory progress. Mr. H. White’s son. who sustained a serious accident in the football field down south, is making good headway towards recovery.
