Tho Bakers won tho toss, and elected to pluy with tlio wind, tho Carriers playing with a strong sun in thoir faces. Scoats sot tlio ball m motion, and Murphy taking neatly sent tlio loathor out ol touch. F rom the tlirow-in Moroll secured, and dropping tho oval at liis foot initated a good dribbling rush, which carried .play on to tho Bakers’ line. Dustin, with a fine long kick, sent tlio hall out of dangor, and following up smartly prevented Poole from getting his kick in, tho ball going out af tho Carriers’ 25. A fine foot-rush headed by Burnand, Scoats, and Smith, transferred tlio scene of operations on to tlio Bakers goal line, where AVilkinson brought timely reliof by a fino run and kick to touch. Casley noxt shone out, snapping the leather up lio sent a lovely pass to Wcotton, who found tho lino with a sorvicoablo kick. From a scrum the hall was shot out to Dustin, who, making a fino run, gave AVilkinson a well-timed pass, and AVilkinson raced over tho line, scoring a fino try. AVoottcn was entrusted with the kick, hut failed to add the major points. Bakers 3 points, Carriers In tlio second spoil the Carriers made tilings very lively for tlieir opponents, hut the Bakers maclo a briliant effort to hold tho lead that they had established in the first spell, and from a loose rush Casley snapped tho leather up and hopped across (Jig lino, scoring the Bakers second try. Dustin, with his kick at goal, struck the bar. Bakers, o points, Carriers nil. Carriers 8 points, Bakers 6. Shortly afterwards Craig again eluded the opposing backs and scored his second try between the posts. Alorell took the kick at goal, and failed to find the uprights. Carriers II points, Bakers 6. A few minutes before the call of time AVright secured the sphere from, a loose rush, and grounded it across the clialk-line. Thompson s attempt at goal was a failure, and the game ended: Carriers 14 points, Bakers 6. . For tho winners, Craig, Alorell, Scoats, Thompson, and Smith were the pick, while for tho losers, Dustin, AVilkinson, Thomas, AA r ootten, and Casley. plaved well. Mr J. Somervell made an efficient referee, and Alessrs Smith and Jones wielded the line flags.
