Mr. Miller, ex-chairman of tho Hospital Board, referring to a diplihcria case, says Dunedin hospital *vas not meant for infectious cases, mil its by-laws do not allow of such patients being taken in. i cottage. They did not inform him they were not acting on the order he sent them, and he had no reason to believe they were not doing so. Before 1903 the condition of tile Actapplied to local bodies, town councils, etc., but now they applied to Hospital Boards. In accordance therewith he had directed the Hospital Board to take in infectious eases. They are the only local body in Otago district who refuse to do so. Moreover Dr. Fulton never requested*- the Health Department to visit McPherson’s place. The house was to-day fumigated and the bedding destroyed.
