HOCKEY.

Victoria Domain presented a very pretty and animated apeparance yesterday afternoon, there being two hookey matches in progress. The Gisborne Ladies’ Hockey team played the Taruheru College boys on No. 1 ground, and on No. 2 ground the Convent girls played a team of girls from the Gisborne school. The games were very evenly contested, each ending in a draw. The Gisborne ladies fought hard for supremacy, and the College found that they had a harder task set them than when they met the Hastings ladies. Miss Ivy Gotfe was a continual source of anxiety to the College team, and the'- made strenuous efforts to keep the tricky centre-forward from scoring but without, avail, as Miss Goffe eluded their watchful backs and scored two good goals. Miss Amy Sherratt also succeeded in shooting a lovely goal. The College boys were very fit, and stayed the game better than the ladies, and their scores were the result of splendid individual rushes, which carried the ball from the centre of the field. Jack Bellerby (the skipper) played a great game for the College, and his'seore was well deserved. Toby Nolan and Ormerod also scored a goal, each making the scores equal. The ladies showed some fine form, and it is a great pity that they are unable to send a team to compete in the tournament at Hastings, as they would have had an opportunity of testing their ability with some first-class teams. Mr. AVi Friday controlled the "ame Lp an efficient manner, giving entire satisfaction. The Itev. Cockerill and Mr. Foster were the line umpires.

WAIRARAPA v. MAN A VATU. Press Association. PALMERSTON, lait night. The AVairarapa - -representative hockey team meat Manawatu to-day, and were defeated after an even and interesting game by 3 to nil.
