After a trial lasting many days Carlos Waddington, sou of the Chilian Charge d Alfairs at Brussels, was acquitted for killing Ernest Balmaceda nephew of the late President of Chili, on I'ebruai 24th, 1906. The evidence showed that Balmaceda, after seducing Waddington’ s sister, refused to fulfil his promise of marriage, and threatened, a terrible scandal in Clnli. 1 here was a remarkable scene in Uie court at the close of the trial.
