ADRIFT IN AN OPEN BOAT.
Pross Association. DUNEDIN, yesterday. Yesterday the Marine Department ordered a tug to ho sent out to search for Mr. C. W. Harvey, last seen drifting to sea in an open boat. The s.s. Hinemoa also promised to fceop a lookout on the voyage down the coast. The boat was' 5 a 14-foot gig. Nautical authorities are of the opinion that the case is almost hopeless, as so much time has elapsed. Tho boat would probably toss about with its gunwale awash, and tho man’s only chance would bo to cling to tho • partially submerged woodwork. He would he buffeted by the icy waves, and cold and exhaustion would soon accomplish their deadly work. Hfirvey’s friends, however, arc still hoping ho will turn up again safe and sound.
The tug Plucky has been sent in quest of Mr. Harvoy, the missing sharebroker.
