Telegraphic communication was restored at 12.10 yesterday, the fault having been removed. The quadruples was set going, and the pile of 150 outward messages accumulated were soon disposed of. At the Police Court yesterday morning before Mr. Barton, S.M., Tolii Parpara, who was fined 10s for drunkenness on Thursday, appeared on a similar charge and was fined £l, and 2s costs, or 4 days imprisonment. John Ryan, a second offender was fined 10s and 2s costs, or 24 hours. A first' offender was dealt with, in the usual way. Basil Sharp attended on a charge of driving without carrying a light on the 22nd inst. on Childers road, and pleaded guilty. He was under the impression that he could drive on moonlight nights. “You must not supposo anything of the'kind anymore, Mr. Sharp,” replied His Worship. “The bye-law makes no distinction between moonlight and other nights.” A penalty of £1 was imposed with 12s costs.
