Mr. Tliomas Stevens was awarded 1 £I6OO damages in tho King’s Bench division the other day, in the action I he brought against Messrs. B. I I Brown and Co. for wrongful dismissal. The plaintiff was for 25 vears London manager to the defendants, an American boot polish company. In May last he was summarily demised. although ho had then a seven years’ agreement, dated 1903. It j was shown that the company’s business had declined, but the plaintiff said this was not owing to anv fault of his, but was due to the firm cutting down their advertising.
