Presß Association. WELLINGTON, Yesterday. At tlio Farmers’ Union Conference remits on land tenure, on which question tlie order paper contains twelve motions, are being considered. A lengthy discussion is taking place on a motion by Mr. ■ Cooper (Masterton) that the Conference, while considering the past : land proposals ot the Government crude and unworkable, is not: opposed to the principle of limitation - .of areas under some equitable scheme. An amepdmeni, from Taranaki .delegates urging the closer settlement of waste lands and omitting the question of limitation, was comibined in the general discussion and lost on the voices, and. Mr. Cooper’s motion wan earned. the general trend of the discussion was in the'direction that it would be a wise nc’icv for the Union to declare itself for limitation, and so remove a suspicion that the Union was being worked by the large landowners. TIMARU, yesterday. Mr G. W. "Headley addressed a well-attended meeting at Peasant Point last night on, the Land Bill, when a motion was carried by a narrow majority that no Land Bill will be satisfactory which does not lncludo the option of the freehold.
