Exponents and lovers of Rugby will be pleased to learn that intima'tion has been received bv our local uincm from the' Auckland body to the effect that if the necessary arrangements can be made tho Auckland representatives, who go oil tour tins season, will play our boys on the morning of September 14th at Gisborne.
Word was also received from the Boiler Union stating that they will be unable to arrange a fixture' with our union as desired, as they intend K°'ng to Auckland by the West Coast With regard to the Auckland match, it behoves the local aspirants to representative honors to buckle to and put in some solid training, so as tr show the Northerners we too can play football. Given a few gtmestogetliei in winch to acquirecouibination tins year’s representative team ought to be a good one, as we have tho material to work on, and with any sort of luck they should give Auckland a good ‘‘go.” How elated Gisbornites would be if our doughty champions succeeded in retaining the ‘ashes m our fair city !
