An hotelkeeper from Rough Ridge, giving an account of his bankruptcy before the Dunedin official assignee, stated that the first 1 winter lie was there was very severe, and he' lost at least £4O worth of stock through breakages caused through frost. The farmers also lost, and this affected his business-considerably. Then this year, owing t ! o the drought and the Exhibition, trade had gone back greatly. '
