A Press Association telegram from Auckland states that Sir Robert Stout was a passenger to Napier by tho Tarawera yesterday. A Press Association telegram from Dunedin states:"—“Port Chalmers is very enthusiastic over Mr. Mills’ knighthood. The Queen’s Drive Boating Club cabled their congratulations to their president. Numerous congratulatory cables were also despatched from Dunedin.” On Saturday the Tuatea was gaily decked with bunting in honor of the event. Mr. Couston (representing Mr. R. Hay), engineer tor the waterworks arrives in Gisborne on Wednesday morning. Mr. W. Lissant Clayton was a passenger for Wellington last night. A Press Association telegram from Sydney states that Miss Marie Hall, the violinist, left by the Wimmera on Saturday for New Zealand after a brilliant tour in Australia. A Press Association message from Wellington states that Mr. W. R. Morris, Accountant and Controller, has been appointed assistant secretary of the' Post and Telegraph Department, in succession to Mr. D. Robertson, recently elevated to the secretaryship.
