MR. E. H. O’MEARA

Tho employees of Messrs.- Common, Shelton and Co. gathered in the store yesterday afternoon to make a presentation to Mr. “Pat.” O’Meara, who, during his long service with the firm has become very popular with his fellow-employees and with those business with whom lie has had dealings. The cause of the presentation was the fact that Mr. O’Meara has severed his connection with Messrs. Common, Shelton and Co. for the purpose of entering into partnership in the firm of H. J .Peacocks and Co. Mr. J. B. Kells, managing director, made, the presentation, and spo'ke in appreciative terms of the work of Mr. O’Meara during liis 14 years connection with tho firm. Messrs. YV. C. McLean and G. K. Pasloy also spoke of the good feeling which had always subsisted towards Mr. O’Meara and to the sterling services he had rendered the firm.

The presentation consisted of a gold watch from the employees and a gold chain from the firm. The watch bears the inscription:—“Presented to E. H. O’Meara by the staff of C., S. and Co., Ltd, after 14 years service: June 22nd, 1907.” . Mr. O’Meara suitably responded. He was sorry fio leave the firm. He would not have left the firm’s employ to join any other firm. He was leaving because he wished to better himself by going into business on his own account .
