THE EXHIBITION SEALS.

Press Association, CHRISTCHURCH, yesterday, . The Canterbury Acclimatisation Society recently wrote to tlie Colonial Secretary, asking that steps be fa; keb to remove from the Waimakar'iri river the seals recently shown at the Exhibition and liberated when the great show closed. The reason for asking was that the seals were destroying the trout. At last night's meeting of the Council of the Society a letter from the Colonial Secretary was read, stating that tlie matter would receive consideration. One member said further consideration would be unnecessary as the seals bad disappeared and lie understood there was no fear of their appearing again. Another member suggested that they had been shot, but the query met with no response.
