COMPENSATION CASES.

Press Association. NAPIER, last night. At the Arbitration Court to-day several compensation cases came up for decision. In one ease where £350 had been -warded to a widow as compensation for the death of her husband and LI 00 of this amount had already been paid, it was decided that as there were five dependents the balance ol £250 should be handed over to the Public Trustee to be invested and applied by him as he thinks proper for the maintenance and benefit of the widow and dependents. In another case a worker receiving 10s per day had three fingers amputated and was now only receiving 9s oer day. An order was made for the payment of 6s per week. ' The decision was reserved in a third case where £3OO was claimed, for the 'oss of an arm, the defence being that the plaintiff was iii receipt of as much per week as ho received prior to the accident.
