Messrs. Murray, Roberts and Co. report holding a sale at Ormond on Friday. Mr. Wills’ ostnto was the ; first 'to bo offered. Tho property consisting lof 7 acres and cottago was passed in at £650, and waggon and team also failo cit.o find a purchaser. Several lighter horses wore sold at from £5 to £25. There was not much competition for tho farm implements and only about hall were disposed of. Mr. Bond’s horses sold well, and brought good prices, from £bß to £26, and there was also n ready sale for the larm implements. Tho furniture on behalf of tho same owner was offered, and realised good prices. Mr. Peildlo’s .dairy, stock were all sold under brisk bidding, cows fetching from £7 to £9. Messrs. Dalgety and Co., Ltd., report the sale of the following properties:—On account Mr. A. W. Macdonald, Mangaone Valley, 500 acres, I i p. land, to Mr. Price Ballantyno, of, Christchurch; on account Mr. Charles Gray, Waiohika, 160 acres freehold land, to Mr. Thomas Holden, of Riniuroa, Gisborne. The Department of Industries and Commerce lias received a cablegram from the High Commissioner, dated London, lotli, stating The mutton market is quiet, and trade for all classes is very slow, prices boing barelv maintained. There is a moderate supply of Canterbury brands at sjd and other than Canterbury SRI. The beef market is very firm. Stocks of. New Zealand are light- Quotations are: 41 d and 3id for hind and fore quarters respectively. The butter market is firm notwithstanding largo receipts. Choicest New Zealand is at 995, Siberian 91s, Danish 107 s. Tho cheese market is quiet. Prices are likely to go lower owing to Canadian supplies increasing. Now Zealand is giving satisfaction to buyers, but complaints have been received of light weights. White is at 645, colored 635. this season’s Canadian cheese 60s. The hemp market is quiet. Buyers aro cautious. Failgrade on spot is at £29 10s. July to September £29. Only nominal quotations are available for good fair grado. Manila on spot is at £33 10s. The cocksfoot seed market is quiet. Bright clean New Zealand seed is at 54s per cwt. The arrivals from river plate during May wero:—Mutton: London 115,141, Liverpool 140,631, Hull 11.593.. Cardiff 8728, Southampton 999, Newcastle 8000, Ireland 3934 carcases; lamb: Loudon 9159, Liverpool 4597, Hull 1000, Cardiff 500, Newcastle 500, Ireland 176 carcases. River jila'te mutton is at 3Jd.
