FOOTBALL.

The AVest End Juniors in their match with Kaiti City on Saturday will bo represented by the following: —Paterson, Martin, Hepburn, J. Somerville, Hutchison, Thomas, H. A\ r riglit, Peterson, V. Somervell, S. McConnell,. H. Bennett, McLachlan, Roderick, Third, R. Somervell. Emergencies : O. Olsen and Dodds (back), and G Jones and Kingston (forward). Mr. AA T . Rowell, tho well-known oroprietor of tho billiard saloon in Oladstone-road. has presented two valuable cups for competition to the AVest End Football Club. Mr. Rowell lias put no restrictions upon his gift, but lias left it entirely to the management committee to decide wliat the cups will he presented for. Tlio cups are at present on view ill Mr. Rowell’s window.

At a general meeting of the AVost End Football Club held last evening, it was decided to form a third fifteen for the Sntnrdnv competition under the auspices of the P.B. Rugby Union. Mr. AV. Howard is presenting a medal for the best forward and Mr. O R.. Olsen, a medal for the best back. The medals aro valued at a guinea each and Messrs Howard and Olsen are to be commended for their (generosity and for tlicir efforts to fester the game among the youths of the district.

CAPS FOR JUNIORS. Mr. M. Segedin, the proprietor and manager of the Victoria Billiard Saloon, has decided to hold a euchre partv and dance shortly, the proceeds of which are to be ‘ devoted to the purchasing of caps, to be presented to the winners of the junior football competition, providing the Rugby Union agree to tho proposal. The first part of the evening, from 8 o’clock to 10, will be taken up with a euchre tournament,'for which prizes are to be presented to the winning ladv and gentleman. The -ladies’ prize will be a silver-mounted purse, valued at a guinea, and the gentlea case containing a 'cigar and cigarette holder and a knife, also valued at a guinea. The rest of the evening will be devoted to dancing. Messrs. G. AVitty and AV. Thomas are to be the M.C.’s; and a strong committee has been formed.

BUTCHERS v. BAKERS

A football match of great interest will be played at Victoria Domain on Thursday afternoon, commencing at 2 o’clock, between the Butchers and Bakers. The selectors of the Butchers team met last evening, and the following team was selected : —Fullback, Alf Thomas; three-ouarters, J. Score, Rowland Hill, and J. Maynard ; five-eighths, Plunkett Albert (captain), Duncan; half, A. Henzler; wing, A. McConnell; lock, .J. Maher; forwards, J. McConnell, A. Pilcher, Sid Saunders, Fred James, Jack Christie, Geo. Marlow; emergencies, Thos. McConnell, Gramty._ Mr. Chas. Hill will officiate as line JUmpire, and the colors of the team will be pink and sky-blue. . The selectors are to be congratulated on their selection, as the team is a very strong one, and should give a verv good account of itself on Tliursday. Following is the Baker’s team : Airey, AValworth, "Wilkinson (2), Casley. Wootton, Oliver, Corbet, Hptlierman, Solomon, Thomas, Hughes, Murphv. Dustin, Goffe. Emergencies: Hallman, Binney, Pritchard. Colors: AVhite. Touch judge: A. P. Hailey. The team is requested to meet at tlie Domain on Tuesday night. The teams compete for a dinner, to be held in Mr. Dustin’s supper rooms at 7 o’clock on Thursday.
