DEATH OF CAPTAIN RHODES.
THE FIFTH TO DIE OF A FAMOUS FAMILY.
Captain Ernest Frederick Rhodes, tho eldest surviving brother of Cecil Rhodes, died at Dalham Hall, near Newmarket, recently from diabetes.
He was the fifth to die of the nine children of the Rev. F. W. Rhodes, vicar of Bishop’s Storford, of whom Cecil Rhodes was the most famous.
The eldest son,- Herbert, was accidentally burned in his hut while elephant hunting near the Shire River in 1877.
He was followed by Cecil Rhodes, who died on March 26th, 1902. The next was Miss Edith Rhodes, who died at Hastings on January sth, 1905.: Colonel Frank Rhodes, to whom his brother left the life tenancy of his Dalham Hall estate, died in Africa on September 21st, 1905.
Now Captain Ernest Rhodes, to whoin the life tenancy of the estate descended on the death of Colonel Rhodes, has passed away. The survivors of the family are Major Elmhirst Rhodes, D. 5.0.; Mr A. M. Rhodes, who lives near Hulawayo;' Captain Bernard Rhodes, who has served in the Roys.l Artillery; and Miss Louisa Rhodes.
According to the will of Cecil Rhodes, the Dalham Hall, estate will revert, failing any male issue of Captain Ernest Rhodes, to Major Elmhirst Rhodes.
