MATAWHERO STOCK SALES.

There. was a good yarding at tho Mutawhoro yards on Thursday. Sheep came.forward in good supply, and eloared at_Jast salo rates. Cattlo were limited in nuinbor, only boof sorts being in demand. Following aro details : Messrs Williams and ICottlo, Loan and Morcantilo Company, and Morray, 'Roberts and Co. yarded about 8000 sheep. Pigs: A few pigs were offered and sold as follows: 11 woaners Bs, 1 sow in pig £2 Is, 1 porker 15s, 10 suckers Bs, 2 weaners 10s, 1 barrow 18s, 5 porkers 16s 8 weaners. 10s fid. Messrs Common, Shelton and Co. and Dalgety and Co. varded about 1700 sheep, all of good quality. From the start tlic sale was brisk, and all classes were in good demand. A fino line of 2 and 4-tootli wethers brought 16s 7d. Prices wore as follows: 53 2-tootli wethers 13s Bd, 62 fat ewes off turnips 14s Bd, 61 do. 13s 7d, 50 do. 12s Bd, 47 fat wethers 17s, 100 lambs in wool 9s, 65 2,4, 6 and 8tootli owes in lamb 9s 2d, 92 empty ewes 9s 7d, 58 2A_qotli wethers 13s fid, 264 2,4, 6, and B~tooth ewes in lamb 14s. 553 2 and 4-tfioth wethers 16s 7d. Cattlo; A few cattle were offered, 4 calves fetching 19s, and 6 smaller ones 17s. Messrs Dalgety and Co. report the following sales: 52 fat ewes 14s Bd, 61 do. 13s 7d, 50 do. 12s Bd, 310 lambs 8s 6d. 100 do. 9s, 65 ewes 10s 2d, 264 breeding ewes 14s. No cattle wore yarded. Five hacks were disposed of, prices ranging from £6 5s to £l6. The N. Z. L. and M. A. Co. report; The day was fine and the attendance rather above the average. The yardings were also considerably in excess of those at corresponding periods of previous yearsi. Sheep.—Our entry comprised 3,153, of which wo sold under fair competition 2,614. There was an excellent- demand for wethers, good hoggets and lines of ewes in lamb, not too aged. The following were the day’s prices:—Cull hoggets 5s 6d to Ss 9d, better sorts 9s 6d to 11s; whilst for one pen containing a fair sprinkling of fats we obtained 12s 9d. Wethers—A small entry. Those marketed made 16s 9d to 17s 2d. cull ewes sold at from 4s to 7s 9d, empty ewes 10s to 12s 6d, ewes in lamb 12s to 13s fid, butcher's ewes 13-s 4d to 13s 6d. Cattle were rather a small entry. We yarded 63 and sold 51 at the following prices;—2 to 2J year old steers £4 to £4 15s, 18 months to 2 years £3 10s, weaners mixed sexes, 27s to 30s, light beef cows £3 15s, well-finished fat cows £5 9s to £6. Pigs—Weaners made 8s and slips from 10s fid to 16s. We sold a useful draught mare at £26 10s. Our next fortnightly sale will - be held on Thursday, 27tli inst'., and we shall be pleased to receive early intimation of entries as.we have enquiries from outside markets, and would like to advise our friends of what is coming forward.
