GISBORNE TRADES UNION CASE.
A PROTEST. Press Association. . DUNEDIN, last night. The following resolution was passed . at a meeting of tho Employers’ Association to-day:—“That this meeting entors an emphatic protest' against I JL® recent decision of the Arbitration Court, in connection with the Gis- | borne painters’ award, whore it fined ;an employer £5 for a committed i breach, notwithstanding the Labor Department had recovered tho differ-, once in wages and was satisfied that the breach bad been unwittingly committed and the purposes of tho Act satisfied; further that the matter bo referred to a Parliamentary Committee with a view to securing an amendment in the Act in the direction of having all enforcement eases dealt, with hi a judicial way by the Department. Tho meeting further resolved to nsk tho Federation to entor an emphatic protest against Mr. Tregonr s recent utterances at a lecture to trade unionists .in Wellington, and d possible to prevent a recurrence of such procedure m future.
