The second round of the senior competition commences this afternoon at Victoria Domain when Kaiti-Olty meets West End in the struggle tor supremacy. A very interesting .game is expected. • WELL! NGTON, yesterday. At a meeting of tho Management Committee of the Now Zealand Rugby Union last night, the disqualifications imposed by the Otago and Southland Unions were made general. In reply to the Wellington Union’s request for a. ruling explaining under ■what conditions an individual might receive monetary, consideration lor services rendered to a football organisation and still retain his amateur status, it was decided to reply that monetary consideration may lie received by any such person without destroying his amateur status, so long as he does not play football.
TEAM FOK AUSTRALIA. WELLINGTON. yesterday. The New Zealand Rugby Union has appointed Mr. Edgar Wylie manager of the New Zealand team to tour Australia. Mr. Galbraith, treasurer of the Union, and Mr. Wylie will represent the Union at a conference in Sydney of Australian Unions, when a new agreement will be drawn up. It was decided to allow members of the team three shillings a day each as travelling expenses. If possible a match will be arranged for July between the New Zealand team and Wellington province.
E.LTHAM. yesterday. Dive, the Taranaki three-quarter, has definitely decided that- owing to an injury to his leg he cannot accompany the New Zealand team to Australia. DUNEDIN, yesterday. Booth replaces Dives in the football team for Australia.
