Sheridan succeeded in demonstrating that the premises constituted a private residence. A club did not come under the heading of a public-house, board-ing-house, or place of business, consequently it must be a private building. The intimation that additional rooms were for the caretaker and stewards appeared .to clinch the argument. As to description, tho building was stated to be of wood, with iron walls. Visions of by-laws seemed to trouble councillors, until Cr. Bright moved that the plans be approved, the additions to correspond with the present structure. Cr. Mann seconded the motion, which was unanimously agreed to.
