Press Association. AUCKLAND, last- night

Two young men, named Charles I George Frederic Pepper and Herbert 1 Howlitt, were charged with having I received money knowing it- to have 1 been stolen from the steamship Na-1 vua. The accused pleaded not I guilty. It- will bo remembered that 1 1000 sovereigns were stolen from the I beat, and that two men, Christie and Manning, third officer and seaman respectively, were found guilty of having stolen the money, and are now undergoing sentence. Pepper was- chargecj with having received £230 of the money and Howlitt £lB2. The jury after 20 minutes retirement hi ought in a verdict of not guilty and the prisoners .were discharged.
