THE STORY OF THE KELLY GANG

At His Majesty’s TliCatre on Wednesday evening Messrs J. and N. Tait will present tlieir pictorial entertainment “The Story of the Kelly Gang.” The principal feature in a remarkable array of animated pictures will bo the first representation in Gisborne of the story of tlio Kelly gang by moving pictures. This great film has attracted enormous audiences in Australia, where it was rc'ceived with great enthusiasm. Describing the production, the management say : In order to carry out this great biograph undertaking it was necessary to keep employed as many as fifty people at a time, and it even necessitated the co-operation of the Victorian Railway Department and the engagement of special trains to reproduce tho destruction of the train by tho Kelly gang. The picture should bo of exceptional interestto all, as almost every man, woman, and child knows the* story of Ned Kelly and his fellow-bushrangers. Tho film commences with a view of the Kelly homestead, showing the family at home, then the appearance of Constable Fitzpatrick, who arrives with a warrant for the arrest of Dan Kelly. It is a well-known fact that the intended arrest of Dan Kelly was the origin of this gang of bushrangers. The picture terminates with a scene at the Gleurowan Hotel, where the gang is surrounded by the police. A hot fight is made, during which Nod Kelly escapes in his armour. Ho is afterwards discovered by the police, who eventually fire at his unprotected log, bringing him to the ground and capturing him. The complete picture occupies over an hour in the representation, and is full of interest from start to finish. Messrs Tait have also secured through their London agent a large number of the very latest English, 'American, and Continental films, which will bo exhibited during the short Gisborne season of three nights. Seats can be booked at Miller’s.
