Finances of Farmers’ Union branolios wore discussed at Saturday's meeting. Mr. A. J. Cameron said that of tho 7s subscription 4s went to tho Provincial Executive, which left tho branches short of funds for carrying on. This was tlio cause of the depressed stato of some tho branches. If they were to do better work thoy must have more funds. If it were necessary to pay 4s per mernboi to tho Provincial body, the subscriptions required to be raised. Ml. I l * Lysnar said it should not take much to carry on tho oxecutivo. They had not hold a mooting for five months. In reply to Mr. ballaghcii, tho chairman said that to hold a seat on tho oxooutivo a person must bo a member of some branch. Respecting tho subscription, he intimated that tho oxocutivo had to send a portion on to tho Colonial Executive. In desultory discussion- Mr. Cameron expressed ie:/rer, that tlio oxecutivo had delayed holding a mooting. A member: “Thoy want rounding up with a stockwhip.” (Laughter.) The chairman suggested a sliding scale of subscriptions, according to tlio holdings, as a solution of the difficulty.
