HOLY TRINITY SUNDAY SCHOOL

A good number of parents and friends assembled. The Vicar, the Rev. L. Dawson Thomas, presided and introduced the Rev. F. W. Cbatterton, of Te Rau College, who gave a most interesting talk upon his travels ill quaint Japan. A large number of magic lantern slides of pictriesque scenery, the temples, inhabitants, etc., contributed to the effect. Tli‘> machine was manipulated by the Rev. H. N. "Wright. The young people enthusiastically applauded the speaker. After a hymn had been tin own upon the screen and sung by the children, the prize-taking eventuated.

The Vicar, in a felicitous little speech, laid stress on the fact that the books presented that evening were prizes, not gifts, and bad been won by the children on a basis of av arding marks each Sunday for attendance, diligence in learning lessons, and so oil. Children who came regularly to Sunday School were bound to show up in the prize list better than tlie frequent absentees. He complimented many of tlie children on their attendance, and on the other hand took some parents to task for their laxity in allowing the young folk to please themselves whether tlie.i- put in all appearance oil not.
