KIA KAMA V. TE HA 17. This game was started at 3.15 and from the commencement was very fast. Brown showed up with some flne strokes and after some central play To Ran rushed the ball down to Kir. Kaha’s goal-line, where Mutu by good play scored a well deserved goal. Dines and Wi Friday were in■trumental in bringing the ball or. to Kia Kalla’s line again where Coleman relieved with a fine drive. Bright, Grant and Hansen made a concerted attack on To Rail’s stronghold but Rau goal-keeper, Wi Friday, ably'defended his base, sending the ball out of play. Pollock nearly succeeded in scoring a goal md Wi Friday again saved. Buslinoll secured the ball and carried it well up the field where lie was beaten for possession by Grant who centred it and Witty made a fino run, being stopped in the nick of time by Brown. Bright next shone forth 1Kia Kalia, taking the ball well up
the field. Ellison and Tanner succeeded in bringing it back to KitKaha’s line where Rex Willock (goalkeeper) saved nicely. Pollock again nearly scored a goal from a fine rush, "Wi Friday saving with a splendid drive to the line. Kia Kaha ' attacked strongly and Bright scored a good goal. Te Rau made a grand rush the whole length of the field and Garrett, by a fine stroke, brought timely relief. Half time was then called and the teams changed ends.
Upon resuming Bushnell made a fine run and Wi Friday kicked' the ball out of danger. Brown made some fine drives and Bright brought play back again where he succeeded
in scoring a fine goal. Te Rau came again to the attack and Grant relieved the pressure. Dines next showed in front, making a nice run but Miller succeeded in beating him foi the ball. Shortly afterwards Dines hit a good goal for Te Rau. Witty made a fine long run, taking play on to Te Rail’s line, but the defensive play of Brown, Pino aud Wi Friday proved too sound and play centred. Wi Friday made a fine drive and Grant returned. Wifty nearly scored. After some hard play in front of Te Rail’s goal Pollock succeeded in hitting a fine go>d for Kia Kaha. To Rau attacked hotly and Grant sent the ball out of play. Ko-side was then called, lv i Kaha thus winning by 3 goals to 2. CITY V. WEST END. This match was fought to a finish on Iso. 1 ground and ended in a win for City by 2 goals to 1. Very fast play was the order of the day and the ball was kept flying from one goal-lino to the other. West End attacked and kept City busy defending for awhile, then City succeeded in shifting the scene of operations to the West End goalline. Roderick scored a fine goal for West End. In the second half Armstrong played a great game for City, his driving and passing being a treat to witness. He scored a fine goal for City. Some very good passing rushes were indulged in by both sides and towards the close of the game Armstrong again succeeded in scoring. Tho referee .very neatly'Stopped a hot drive by Olsen and suffers from a slight limp in consequence. For City, Armstrong, Wilson and Doyle were the- pick, while for West End, McLaclilan, Oliver and Olsen played well. Mr. Jas. Sadler controlled the game in his usual efficient manner.

EASY WIN FOR GISBORNE
Tho hockey match between the Te Kooti Club, Hastings, and tho local ladies was played at the Victoria Domain yesterday afternoon. The teams were as follows: —Gisborne: Goal, Miss Sawyer; fullbacks, Misses Johnson and Sherratt; halves, Misses Matthews, Reynolds (captain), and Slierrar(t; forwards, Misses Goffe, Wachsmdnn, Sherratt, and Matthews; centre forward, Miss Ivy Goffe. Te Kooti: Goal, Miss Elliott; full-backs, Misses O’Reilly (captain) and Danvers; halves, Misses Wall and Humphries; centre
half, Miss Jones; forwards, Misses E, JSliattky, Warren, Hay, Hayes, C Humphries, and Beelian. Mr. I’avitt officiated as umpire and Messrs. Hamlin and Bert Briglu held tho line pennons. Shortly after 2 p:m. the game commenced, and Gisbgrno soon had the hall in their opponents’ territory, and To Ivooti promptly knocked over the line. . Miss B. Goffc niado a good hit. and followed it up well, and a few minutes later tho visitors were penalised for off-side. Gisborne pressed hard at tho goals, but the ball jiist missed the posts. From the 25 the field soon commenced a tussle at the half-way line, and the visitors advantage was lost by “sticks. - piece of good play by Miss 8.. Goffc carried the ball in the direction of the posts, but it soon came up the field, and Miss Matthews quickly returned. Both teams appeared to do a considerable amount of passing, and tho girls of both teams played with good combination. From a corner hit by Gisborne the ball was sent far down tho field, the local girls pressing all the time, but. they hat some difficulty in finding the goal. •From a throw-out at Te Kooti s -5 some interesting play eventuated between Miss Matthews (Gisborne) and Misses Schattky and Humphries (visitors). For the first time the ball found its way to Gisborne’s 25. It was followed up well, but'the visitors were never dangerous. A free kick was awarded tho visitors, and Miss' B. Goffo drove cleanly to the centre, and it was neatly goaled by Miss Ivy
Goffo making tlio first scoro. Tlio visitors’ goal was again assaulted, but the clover dofonco of Miss O’ltoilly prevented a scoro being made. Prom a froo hit for Napier, tho ball wi|s quickly carried to tho centre, and tho visitors camo near scoring. Tho ball remained still in Gisborne’s ' territory, and a scoro was narrowly ' avortod. Again tho situation was savod by tho full-back, and Miss Danvers forced. Again Napior wore pressed, and a splondid return by Miss Y. Shorratt brought tho first half of tho gamo to a close, when light refreshments were partaken of. Upon resuming, Gisborne had tho sun boliind thorn. Miss Cora Humphries mado a brilliant rush, anil was well supported, but the local ladios wore too superior. Miss AVoodbino Johnson flit a splondid skier down tho field, and Gisborne again threatened their opponents’ goals. Miss Itoynolds by a good shot added a point to tho scoro, bringing it to 2. Shortly afterwards Napier camo up strong, but by a firm and well-direct-ed stroke Miss Shorratt knocked the ball well back. Miss Cora Humphries again attacked with a splondid dash, and Gisborno mado a strong rush, but Miss .Elliott (goalkeepor) saved tho position by a pieco of good play. Miss Ivy Goft’o camo up and made Gisborne’s scoro 3. Tho visitors’ score was nil. Tho next- scoro was mado by Miss Amy Shorratt, in spite of an ablo defence by tlio goalkoopor. AN OTHER MATCH TO-DAY
An At Home was given last night by Mrs. U. N. Jones in honor of tho . isiting ladies’ hockey team from -Listings. Dancing was indulged ill . uring tho evening and songs wore ■ontributed by some of those present. AH present thoroughly enjoyed the evening. The To 'Kooti ladies attend a complimentary dance given in their honor by the Gisborne Ladies’ Club and a committee of gentlemen in His Majesty’s Theatre to-night. The team have decided not to return on Sunday and aro staying till Wednesday's boat, with the exception of one young lady, who is repiired at business. This afternoon, it 2.30, the "Wanderers Club play tho visitors. Following is tho local team :—Misses V. Walters (Captain), V. and G. Warren, M. Smith, D. Fyson, D. Osborne, M. Winter, It. Cussen, E. .Jones. V. Simson, H. Hooper. On Saturday morning, practice will be indulged in, and for the afternoon, various excursions are being arranged. A return match between the visitors and the local team will be played oil Monday.
