Junes. | The Methodist Conference discuss- ' id the question of whether lay rejjre- . sentatives shall sit at tho Fiji Synod in 1908 or not until the next general ionierencc shall direct. The Rev. Mr. Slade saw no- reason why - the people should not be admitted to the Synod. It could only elevate them, as it gave them the responsibility of dealing with great questions. Mr. Lonsdale, a New South Wales representative, declared that no color line t should be drawn in the Christian ] Church. They should put their foot c dowii on the attempt of younger men j to draw it in Fiji. Sir Frederick : Holder warned the Conference that , delay in granting it might lead to , such a crisis in Fiji that they might ] have to give under pressure what , was denied as a matter of right. As a matter of right, justice, and con- , faience in tho Fiji brethren, he would gtant . representation immediately and graciously. The discussion was , adjourned.
