THE AUSTRALIAN GAME

Messrs. R. W. Cary (president) and J. H. Wack (secretary) of the Poverty Bay Football League approached the Borough Council last night for permission to play the Australian game of football on the Borough reserves, situated off Child-ers-road, near the Victoria Domain. They represented that there were 40 or 50 young men, of permanent residence, desirous of playing the game, which would be well conducted.

It was explained that the property referred to was leased, and could not be granted as requested. The Mayor thought room might be made on the Domain, but Cr. Miller thought it would'.clash with Rugby if played on the same day. The Mayor suggested that a ground might be found on the reserve near the station.

The Council concurred, and the League will be communicated with to this effect.
