Cheeso: Eighteen tons of Victorian cheese have arrived iu good condition. The experts have examined it, and the general estimate is that- it is worth 64s to GGs. Three months’ bills are discounted at 3j per cent. Consols, 84j, New South Wales 3J per cents., 99; New Zealand 4 per cents., 106J| ; West Australian 3j per cents., 96. On the butter market there is a steady demand for a few of the choicest Australian brands at 94s to 965; New Zealand, 98s to 100 s. There is no sale for secondaries. The cheese market is firm. New Zealand white fetches 66s to 68s; colorerd, 63s to 645. Victorian is selling at 60s to 645, despite the small size and paleness. The price obtained is chiefly owing to the scarcity of secondary cheese. On the Bradford wool market merinos are firm and croosbreds neglected. Common sixties, 26§d; super, 273c1.

The Department of Industries and Commerco has received the following cable from London, dated June Ist: Tho mutton market is steady, but the demand is only moderalo. The supply of light-weight mutton is rncreasing. Tho' average price is 4d for Canterbury brands, and 32d for North Island. The lamb market remains the same, and there is a good demand for all classes, especially heavy-weights, Canterbury at old, other brands at 5Ad. Beef is firm. Prices continue to advance. Hind and forequarters are 3|d and 3Ad respectively. The butter market is firm, and superior grades are in demand. New Zealand supplies are running short, and choicest qualities arc quoted at 995. The cheese market is firm, with an improved demand for New Zealand makes. White cheese is quoted at 675, and colored 60s. The hemp market is depressed, owing to reports from Manila, which indicate that shipments are likely to increase. Good fair grade on spot is quoted at £33, and “fair” grade in the same position at £2B 10s. The value of fair current Manila on spot is £35 10s. The cocksfoot seed market is firm. Bright clean dressed seed is quoted at 545. The wool market remains firm.
