Tho Auckland winter meeting opened to-day in splendid weather, with a good attendance. Tho sum of (£15,445 10s passed through tho totalisator, against £12,959 on tlio opening day last year. Tho winning doublo, Morriwai and Uranium, paid £ll7 13s. Results: Maiden Steeplechase—Fretwork 1, Mooltan 2, No Shot 3. Scratched: Mawliiti and Glasgow. Won by a length.
